Buteyeko Method

Buteyeko is a series of breathing exercises used to correct and alleviate the symptoms of a number of conditions such as asthma, emphysema, allergies, sinusitis, rhinitis and hyperventilating. The system was devised by a Dr Konstantin Buteyeko, Moscow’s First Medical Institute.
During his training, Buteyko had been given a practical assignment monitoring diseasedpatients breathing – it was from this study that his interest in the breath and its effect on the body developed. He carried out extensive research on the breathing patterns of asthmatics, sufferers of angina and other diseases,
and had successful and positive results. The research was further developed during his time at the Central and Lenin Medical Libraries. By the end of the 1960’s, Buteyko’s method was being used with great success in clinics all over Russia. The technique has gradually spread to the West and is now fairly widely available. It is recommended that the method should only be taught by a practitioner registered with the Buteyko stitute of Breathing and Health. A course will generally run over five consecutive days, for an hour and a half each session. Most BIBH practitioners offer a money back guarantee, and payment after the course is completed.

Diet

image

Diet-General Advice

The way we look, feel and perform is all affected by the type of fuel we put into our body. Most of us eat far too much processed food which has little nutrional content compared to fresh fruit and vegetables. Most processed food is also more likely to contain combinations of the following – chemicals, pesticides, antibiotics, growth hormones or has been genetically engineered. Good food does take time to prepare but it is worth it for the taste and the positive benefits to health.

Nutritionists do not recommend dieting as most people return to their bad habits, rather that you have a sensible and healthier diet containing lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and take more exercise. Diet pills and stomach stapling operations are extreme measures and should only be used by those who are morbidly obese and who are unable to discipline themselves to any diet.

If you have persistent health problems because of your weight you should see a qualified medical practitioner/doctor.
