Babyboomer pressures overshadow the good life

Rather than enjoying later life, Britain’s babyboomers are taking on more and more worries, reveals a new study by Astral, the all over hydrating body moisturiser, loved and used by millions of British women.

Astral_Face_on_new_label.jpgWith female babyboomers set to live longer, up to 85 years on average, life and work worries are now overshadowing their prime. According to Astral’s new report , health concerns (50%) topped the list of worries, followed by family woes such as children and ageing (40%), then finance (30%) followed by the state of the world (25%).

‘The Change’ tops all health concerns….The menopause was linked to the majority of women’s health worries and confidence issues, as they struggled to handle its symptoms and the impact on their home and extended work lives. Almost half (45%) of the study said they suffered a lack of energy, with three quarters (75%) feeling physically tired and 45% only managing to do essential tasks, but not having enough energy for anything else, thanks to the menopause.

Embarrassing problems associated with the ‘change’ also presented further hurdles, with hot flushes affecting almost everyone (90%), and digestive upsets effecting 85% on a regular basis. Irritability was another factor that women found hard to control and impacted their extended working lives, with 60% seeing a distinct downturn in their mood thanks to the menopause.

Beautiful, youthful skin plays a large part in feeling beautiful. Almost all of the women in the Astral study (95%) said the menopause had affected their skin, with half (45%) claiming dry skin was a real problem and 35% highlighting their face and body lacked lustre, with 30% seeing a loss in suppleness and increased dryness.

Astral on trial….
Study respondents going through ‘the change’ were asked to test Astral over a three week period to see how effective it was as an all over body moisturiser. Testers used Astral once or twice a day. Final study results revealed that 95% of users found Astral very effective in actually preventing dry skin, with 85% saying they found the cream soothing, hydrating and great at helping to maintain skin moisture balance.

85% of the study correspondents found Astral more effective than their usual moisturiser. As a result trialists said they were set to continue to use Astral as a daily, hydrating body moisturiser.

Commenting on this latest trial news from Astral, Dr Trisha Macnair notes: “The menopause really plays havoc with women’s skin and yet often goes unmentioned versus more dramatic symptoms. Falling oestrogen levels, which affect the production of collagen, is responsible for helping skin, hair and nails to retain their elasticity. As a result, thanks to ‘the change’, oestrogen levels fall and skin starts to sag, get dry and be less supple.

“The truth, as revealed in this report, is that when a woman’s facial skin is in good condition she feels more confident and more attractive, which can be a real boon when other parts of her body are potentially making her feel out of control. If the skin on her body is in good condition then she feels not only more confident, but also feels better because she is more comfortable.

“So what is needed is a moisturiser that can help menopausal women take control of their skin’s condition. Astral, is a very effective solution for menopausal women because it is so nourishing and hydrating as a cream. It’s secret for me lies with the product’s formulation which includes lanolin, a rich natural moisturising ingredient which binds water to itself locking in moisture, while still allowing the skin to breathe, as well as being naturally hypoallergenic and easily absorbed.”

Married women have hairier legs

image

London: Hairy legs are a top priority for British women – except if they are married, according to a new survey.

Four out of five of those surveyed admitted that having hairy legs made them feel uncomfortable, unfeminine and unsexy; while 43% revealed that their relationship status affected how much care and attention they showed their pins. And for all those singletons out there, a quarter of you wouldn’t consider bringing anyone home if you didn’t have gorgeously smooth skin.

But it seems hair removal isn’t a priority once you’re married, with 21% of you admitting that you’re not concerned with having smooth pins after you’ve tied the knot.

Hair removal experts Nair surveyed almost 1,300 people across the UK in a bid to find out about the nation’s attitude to hair removal[1].

The survey also revealed that almost half of 16-24 year olds would like some star treatment with a beauty therapist on speed dial. Unfortunately, for the vast majority of us we can’t afford this extravagance.

So Nair has come to the rescue with the Nair Leg Technicians Consultation, a free online service giving you all the information you need to get your legs in tip-top shape. This simple-to-use free online questionnaire supplies you with professional advice tailored to meet your needs, recommending the ideal product for you. And if your query can’t be answered on the site, you can email an expert Leg Technician and they’ll get back to you within seven working days. This free service is available at www.naircare.co.uk It’s a great way to handle any hairy nightmares!

Expert beauty therapist and Nair’s Chief Leg Technician Heidi Edwards says:
“To get sexy, smooth legs this summer get yourself into a routine of moisturising and exfoliating. A spot of exercise helps too! And to remove leg hair, use a wax or a cream-based product that is designed to care for your skin. Nair has a great range of hair removal products, featuring both waxes and creams, to comfortably remove the hair, while moisturising and protecting.”

Whatever your needs, Nair has a hair removal product to suit you and your lifestyle. This summer, Nair has launched four great new products:

Clinique unveils the latest anti-ageing wrinklebuster

image

London: Clinique has unveiled its new weapon in the war against anti-ageing, Superdefense SPF25 Age Defense Moisturizer.

This latest version of Superdefense aims to help combat the internal, psychological stress that ages skin in a similar way as external stresses such as sun and pollution.

A key component in the formula to address psychological stress is Red Microalgae Extract, harvested off the coast of Israel in the Mediterranean Sea.

As its name suggests, the revamped Superdefense SPF25 also contains a powerful sunscreen, and other materials that boost the skin’s natural protective function. Wrinkle relaxer that activates a fresh look in just seven days

image

A skincare breakthrough is set to challenge Botox® and there’s not a needle, frozen look or health risk in sight. In a discovery that has challenged conventional thought on the wrinkling process, a cream containing a harmless mirror ingredient to snake venom, is being applied by women to penetrate the skin, change its wrinkle memory and rewrite their facial history in as little as seven days.

In a skincare first, SkinVenom™ combines four of today’s most powerful and technologically advanced anti-ageing ingredients to minimize muscle movement and contractions – the latest beauty-buzz, Synake1, based on a snake venom peptide, Gamma Amino Butyric Acid (GABA), Thalassine and Calmosensine™ which triggers feelings of well-being to relax skin tension.

Heralded as the hottest and most revolutionary anti-wrinkle cream of the decade, SkinVenom™ sold out in seconds when it went on sale in US department stores last year and will be available in the UK from the end of February.

Crucially, backed by scientific analysis, the unique complex has been proven to break the skin’s ‘memory’ – its inclination to wrinkle in the same places with each frown, smile or facial contraction. It works by controlling the nerve endings in the skin and slowing reflexive facial muscle movement to stop the skin contracting where wrinkles most commonly form – around the eyes, forehead and mouth. This process delays and reduces the onset of wrinkles as the skin is forced to use different muscles and effectively start the wrinkling process all over again. At the same time the cream instantly brightens skin, while improving the appearance and preventing further deepening of existing wrinkles.

The breakthrough SkinVenom™ compound penetrates the skin epidermis, dermis and hypodermis to reach muscle layer, delivering a reliable, no-needle alternative to Botox® injections. Unlike Botox® and facial peels whose effects can begin to wear off almost immediately, the cumulative effects of using SkinVenom™ are gradual and continual results that become more noticeable every day. The overall effect is calmer, smoother, tension-free skin.

Though it treats the face as a whole, SkinVenom™ is best applied to four particular areas – forehead, crow’s feet, smile lines and nasal folds. In clinical trials, the formula was documented to unlock skin tension and visibly reduce the depth, length, discoloration and roughness of existing lines. In user trials, areas where the product was applied showed a reduced tendency to wrinkle and fold in response to muscle movement in just seven days. Lines on the forehead, around the eyes and around the nasal folds were reduced and generally skin was visibly smoothed.

SkinVenom™ active ingredients are:

• Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) which encourages nerve relaxation
• Thalassine which inhibits muscle contraction
• The award-winning Syn®-ake1 compound – a harmless botanical skin relaxant derived from yeast which mimics the effect of a peptide found in snake venom to minimize muscle movement.

Working in a similar way to Botox®, it blocks neuromuscular contractions which cause facial tension and lead to wrinkles
• Calmosensine™ based on a peptide in the body which promotes the natural release of messengers that trigger happiness and feelings of well being to relax skin tension
• Natural actives to help stimulate dermal matrix production and restore collagen, resulting in firmer, plumper looking skin
• Bio-moisturisers and skin brighteners to provide a near immediate smoothing effect with more long-term, noticeable wrinkle relief

Dr Roman Campbell, PhD MD says: “Your skin has memory. The face holds a lot of tension in the forehead and temples, even your smile and, over time, the features of the face can set in a certain way. Your face makes a particular response to something, for example where you crease your brow when you are worried. It then remembers this response and repeats it whenever you experience that emotion. Gradually your features begin to fix themselves permanently and that’s when wrinkles form and deepen. It makes sense that if you can stop the skin contracting in the normal places and force it to use new muscles, the facial pattern can be broken.”

With celebrity fans said to include Jo Lo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley and Jade Pinkett Smith, SkinVenom™ caused queues at US beauty counters when it launched. With a growing waiting list here, the £180 50ml SkinVenom™ pump will be available in selected department stores and salons nationwide.

1 The ingredient won the 2006 Swiss Technology Awards for its innovation and technical capabilities

Skin Venom™ is part of the Syence skincare range, developed by Syence Skincare Limited and formulated to combat the skin’s natural degenerative processes with the most technologically advanced anti-ageing ingredients available. Each product is independently tested and clinically proven to target and minimize signs of ageing.

Dermalogica launches powerful new anti-ageing skincare

image
image

Dermalogica has launched a new range of anti-ageing skincare with a powerful mix of ingredients to fight the biochemical causes of skin ageing.

AGE Smart™ which flew off the shelves after its recent US launch contains innovative technology and ingredients. Two of the star products the Antioxidant Hydramist which zaps the skin with antioxidants and the MAP-15 Regenerator in which a revolutionary powder that turns into a wrinkle-fighting cream on contact with the skin.

AGE Smart™ which has gone on sale in the US and UK via salon and selected online outlets works by impacting the main biochemical reactions which result in the signs of ageing. These are chemical reactions which occur within the skin and include: Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) – also known as free radicals; the generation of Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPs) and the development of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs)

ROS include oxygen ions, free radicals and peroxides and are generally very small molecules which are highly reactive due to the presence of unpaired electrons. During times of environmental stress, ROS levels can increase dramatically, causing considerable damage to cell structures. Studies have shown that UV-induced damage to the skin is in part caused by ROS.

Lipid peroxidation also results from ROS damage to cell membranes, leading to premature ageing, skin cancer and cell death. AGE Smart™ uses a combination of antioxidants (including white tea and vitamins C and E) to scavenge free radicals; glucosamine, lactic acid and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate to treat hyperpigmentation and bioflavonoids (white tea and liquorice) to treat broken capillaries.

MMPs are enzymes which, when activated, control tissue degradation in the dermis. MMPs include collagenase which specifically decomposes particular collagens or other proteins in the extracellular matrix of the dermis.

Collagenase is really a group of enzymes which are responsible for breaking down the different types of collagen and elastin. The formation of MMPs may be stimulated by internal growth factors and inflammatory modulators, as well as exposure to UV radiation. Within hours of UV exposure, the MMP genes are activated, resulting in the biosynthesis of collagenase and other MMPs. As skin ages, its ability to replenish collagen and elastin naturally slows and skin loses strength and tone. Dehydration also occurs as the ability to replenish hyaluronic acid also diminishes. AGE Smart™ slows the formation of MMPs and stimulates the production of hyaluronic acid with the inclusion of soy, peptides, polyphenols (from white tea), vitamin C and yeast extract.

AGEs occur as a result of sugar molecules in the body reacting with proteins such as collagen. AGEs cause collagen to cross-link leading to stiff proteins with a loss of elasticity. As the body is incapable of destroying AGEs, this cross-linking causes dramatic skin ageing. During the forming of AGEs, additional ROS (free radicals) are created which contributes to the ageing process. AGE Smart™ uses a unique and specific peptide (LYS/ARG polypeptide) combined with glucosamine and soy isoflavonoids to trap excess sugar molecules, preventing the formation of AGEs. In the process, the generation of ROS associated with AGE formation is also subdued.

The AGE Smart™ range includes five new products for home use and five existing products with updated formulations, complete the set. The new products are:

• Skin Resurfacing Cleanser (£27.20) – a dual-action cleanser which thoroughly cleanses and exfoliates skin in one easy step. Retexturises skin by accelerating cell turnover whilst fortifying skin’s natural moisture barrier. Contains AHA lactic acid to exfoliate surface cells, leaving a smoother, polished surface receptive to subsequent active ingredients whilst helping hydrate and brighten. Soothing rose flower oil calms skin and vitamin E (tocopheryl acetate) conditions and enhances skin softness

• Antioxidant Hydramist (£27.20) – a refreshing antioxidant shield with flash-firming properties. Supplements skin’s protective barrier by creating an active antioxidant shield to fight damaging ROS. Arginine/Lysine polypeptide helps prevent the signs of ageing caused by AGEs whilst magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) provides critical antioxidant protection and inhibits MMP enzymes contributing to collagen breakdown. White tea, liquorice and vitamin E shield against free radicals whilst aloe and sodium lactate provide moisture for the skin

• MAP-15 Regenerator™ (£60.00) – a revolutionary powder-to-emulsion treatment which delivers a high concentration of magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (MAP) directly into the skin, dramatically improving skin firmness and clarity. Hyaluronic acid provides intense skin hydration whilst yeast extract helps stimulate wound healing, collagen formation and increases oxygen utilisation in skin

• Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF30 (£47.00) – a medium-weight, emollient daily moisturisers enabling absolute hydration and defense against the contributing causes of skin ageing. Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 over-rides the inhibitory effects of MMPs on collagen synthesis whilst activating tissue growth factor (TGF), a peptide which is required in its active state for collagen production to occur. Oenothera biennis (evening primrose oil), a source of gamma linoleic acid, helps prevent skin sensitisation by reinforcing skin’s natural barrier lipid layer and helps retain hydration levels. Also contains colloidal oatmeal and chrysanthemum parthenium extract to calm irritated skin

• Renewal Lip Complex (£19.40) – a daily treatment which restores delicate tissue, minimises contour lines and helps prevent the signs of ageing. Superior conditioning lasts hours beyond application and is ideal for wearing alone or as a smoothing primer before lipstick application. Contains palmitoyl oligopeptides to condition skin and stimulate collagen formation, minimising fine lines. Theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, triticum vulgare (wheat) germ oil and butyrospermum parkii (shea butter) are emollient and vitamin-rich plant lipids which smooth and condition lip tissue whilst helping to prevent dehydration

All Dermalogica products take into account an understanding of modern skin stress and active, busy lifestyles. The professionally recommended products do not involve complicated and outdated rituals. What distinguishes Dermalogica from other skin care ranges is the recognition that your skin is as individual as you are. Dermalogica products use highly active ingredients, are not animal tested – and they work.

Scientists discover new wrinkle cream elixir

New York: A study of a recently patented ingredient based on naturally occurring skin lipids has shown that it reduces wrinkles and improves the texture of sun-damaged skin.

The study, published in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, suggests that salicyloyl-phytosphingosine (SP), reduces wrinkle depth and improves the texture of photoaged skin.

The recent study on SP, funded by Germany-based fine chemicals group Degussa, manufacturer of the product.

Thirty women, aged between 41 and 69, with moderate photo damage to facial skin, were asked to apply the SP cream to half of the face whilst applying a placebo cream to the other half, twice daily for four weeks.

The three dimensional profile of the subjects’ skin was then measured; changes were quantified using skin smoothness and skin roughness parameters, and measuring the distribution of wrinkle depth.

Results showed both an improvement in skin smoothness and a reduction in wrinkle depth, suggesting positive applications for the ingredient in anti-ageing products. How the product works is still a bit of a mystery but scientists believe it is due to SP’s ability to stimulate the skin’s own production of ECM proteins.

New fat buster from Vichy Laboratories reduces cellulite in one month

image

London: Lipo-metric by Vichy Laboratories is a new cellulite treatment that actually works – it has been tested and nine out of ten women had a result after one month use.

According to Vichy scientists cellulite lurks in both overweight and thin women. It occurs when fat storage cells known as adipocytes swell up and they can expand by 60 times their size. And there’s more – when they swell they produce mini versions of themselves called pre-adipocytes. This causes the skin to swell pressure which breaks down the fibres that keep skin firm resulting in the unpleasant dimpling effect typical of cellulite.

Lipo-metric contains two substances Adrenalyse-S and Aminokine-G which Vichy says combine to produce instant results. It also contains the other proven cellulite buster caffeine.

This product produces results after one month of use and the secret of success is massaging it in twice daily. It can be used on the legs, thighs, tummy and waist.

What causes cellulite
Provoking factors
• Hormonal level variations
• Puberty, pregnancy, menopause
• Erratic blood circulation
• Unbalanced diet

New wrinkle buster claims to diminish lines in one hour

image

Los Angeles: Dermatologists in the US say they are preparing for huge demand for a new wrinkle cream that reduces wrinkles in one hour.

Preliminary results from an ongoing independent clinical study assessing the effects of new iS CLINICAL(R) Youth Complex indicate that 97% of the subjects noted significant overall improvements in wrinkle reduction, texture, and firmness after one hour.

Wrinkles are created when key structures, like collagen and elastin, that support and strengthen the skin, breakdown mainly because of free-radical damage, causing damaged skin to crease. The only way to repair wrinkling is to rebuild these support structures, which are located in the deeper layers of the skin.

“The dramatic effects of Youth Complex can be attributed to our new ingredient iNNOVASE(TM)”, reports Bryan Johns, CEO of Innovative Skincare, creators of the new iS CLINICAL(R) Youth Complex. “This unique, clinically advanced bio-complex combines innovative natural hydrators, potent botanical antioxidants, and bio-identical growth factors that are clinically proven to help rebuild the skin’s support structures, prevent further DNA damage and optimize cellular metabolism.”

Consumer response to pre-launch advertising and pre-market sampling has been so strong that pre-orders and waiting lists were required to manage the thousands of requests.

“I have found that Youth Complex’s formulation allows you to see instant improvement of wrinkled skin while also accomplishing significant long-term improvements that my patients could clearly see,” said Dr. William Heimer II of Surfside Dermatology in San Diego, Calif. “Solid science with solid results in an easy single step application keeps my patients asking me for more.”

“I have never before seen a product that literally rejuvenates the skin within hours, days and weeks. My patients come to me because they expect results. I’ve found that Youth Complex provides the things my patients ask for most — prevention and correction — all in one bottle,” said Roberta F. Palestine, M.D., who completed her residency at the Mayo Clinic and is the founder and director of the Dermatology & Clinical Skin Care Center in Bethesda, Md.

Youth Complex’s simultaneous, triple-action formula contains a matrix of dehydrated hyaluronic acid molecules that penetrate the skin nestling into fine lines and wrinkles. Acting like mini sponges, these natural hydrators expand by absorbing the skin’s natural moisture loss and plump the wrinkle from within. The bio-nutrients then work to support the newly raised wrinkle by strengthening the barrier between the epidermis and dermis, creating a type of scaffolding under the skin. Finally, the bio-identical growth factors and reparative botanicals help rebuild the collagen and elastin in the skin’s deepest layers resulting in long-term, more permanent improvements.

iS Clinical Youth Complex will retail for $135 (£65, €100) and is exclusively sold through dermatologists, plastic surgeons, medi-spas, cosmetic physicians and medical estheticians. To find a retailer near you, log on to www.innovativeskincare.com

iS CLINICAL is the exclusive clinical skincare brand by INNOVATIVE SKINCARE, which features optimal “results-oriented” skincare formulations. INNOVATIVE SKINCARE is committed to improving skin health by developing the highest quality of products, supporting the research of new treatments, raising the bar on corporate integrity, and serving the needs of its skincare customers globally.

Your Skin, Our Science … Pure Chemistry

Laresse – the new generation of dermal fillers

image

London: Laresse – new dermal filler from the US and which says it is the most technologically advanced has launched in Europe.

It is synethetically made from absorbable medical polymers, “bio-polymer” which uses such small particles that it can be used for tiny wrinkles and is injected with the smallest of needles, reducing bruising.

Before and after photo right

Laresse is the creation of Californian company Fzio Med which manufacturers medical polymers. The company has been given regulator approval in Europe, including the UK, has yet to receive permission from the FDA for use on patients in the US.

The company claims that is a superior “new generation” filler because it has none of the drawbacks of previous fillers. For example, collagen which was sourced for animal sources such as bovine or porcine, required an allergy test. Hyaluronic acid (HA), a newer filler, which is a precursor to collagen in the human body is made from bacteria and has to go through a process known as “cross-linking” which slows down body’s natural absorption of the material.

It also is nonimmunogentic and non-clumping, says FzioMed.

Made by the Californian company FzioMed it was rolled out to cosmetic surgeons and medical surgeons in the UK earlier this year.

Dr Richard Berg, PhD, FzioMed Vice President of Research and Chief Science Officer said: “Laresse is not made from HA so it has no bacterial or animal components, no cross-linking chemicals, and no gel particles. It’s a pure, ultra-smooth, gel that can be used to shape facial contours and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.”

Laresse is a non-permanent filler which has been formulated from the company’s experience in spinal surgery. The effects are said to last for six months and costs from $488 (£250 €370).

The first positively flawless dermal filler
Non-animal, non-bacterial, non-permanent, non-crosslinked

Laresse – New Technology in dermal fillers – the facts

• 2006 Laresse: New technology with 3 new features: no animal contaminants, no crosslinkers, no particles, to provide less worry, less pain, thinner needles

• 1990’s Hyaluronic Acid : 2 new features over collagen:
• 6 months vs. 3 months) and no pretreatment skin test.
• Technology static for 10 years; NO NEW TECHNOLOGIES since HA (Many HA fillers, all the same)
• HA’s drawbacks not addressed: animal or bacterial source, crosslinkers and particles

• 1980’s Bovine Collagen, First temporary filler, 3 months

What is Laresse?

• Composed of 2 polymers mixed together in a dilute aqueous solution
• Carboxymethylecellulose (CMC) & Polyethylene Oxide (PEO
• Both CMC and PEO polymers have a high affinity for water producing a hydrogel, or water-containing gel.

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers

• Because natural HA degrades rapidly, it must be chemically modified to be useful as a dermal filler
• Chemicals such as BDDE (1,4-butane-diol diglycidyl ether, a known carcinogen) are used to “cross-link” HA molecules together to slow down degradation
• All HA fillers require chemical cross-linking to achieve longer residence time in the dermis
• Residues of cross-linking agents are toxic and may cause inflammation and hypersensitivity reactions
• Cross-linking creates a gel made up of HA particles
• Particle size limits delivery through a 30g needle (many fillers require 27g needle)
• Particles can cause a less desirable cosmetic result

Laresse vs. HA Fillers

Laresse & HA are structurally similar, however they have 3 key differences…..

• Animal or Bacteria Source
– All HA fillers are derived from animal sources (rooster combs) or by bacterial whereas Laresse is derived from pure, absorbable, medical polymers

• Cross-Linking
– Natural HA degrades rapidly, so all HA must be chemically cross-linked to be useful as a dermal filler
– Laresse needs no cross-linking to be an effective dermal filler

• Particles
– All HA fillers are made up of gel particles (due to cross-linking)
– Laresse is completely smooth, free of gel particles

Laresse key points

1. Ultra-Smooth, Clear Gel, 30g Needle
2. Non-Permanent, Non-HA
3. Non-Particulate, Non-Clumping
4. Easier to Inject
5. Non-Bacterial
6. Non-Animal
7. Non-Immunogenic
8. No Cross-Linking Chemicals
9. Biocompatible, Safe

US safety watchdog plans to withdraw hydroquinone skin products

New York: A recent ruling of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will put some American consumers of popular skin lightening products on alert, citing serious concerns with the safety of products containing hydroquinone – which may pose a risk for cancer and in other cases, cause a rare skin disease that results in a blue-black discoloration called ochronosis. Many US consumers use these products in their fight against age spots and skin discoloration.

Pending a final ruling by the FDA, within 30 days of December 30, 2006, all 2 percent hydroquinone over-the- counter (OTC) products will be withdrawn from store shelves and consumer distribution. Hydroquinone has already been banned in Japan, much of the European Union and Africa.

As consumers seek alternatives and retailers pull entire product lines from their shelves, an increasing number are turning to their dermatologists for help in combating age spots and skin discoloration. Fortunately, many of these doctors are able to provide their patients with PRESCRIBEDsolutions (Customized Skincare), an entire range of skin brightening products – without hydroquinone – from night creams to cleansers that can be boosted in a matter of seconds in a physician’s office with bio-engineered and botanical brightening agents that significantly lessen hyperpigmentation, where skin becomes darker in color than the normal surrounding skin.

In addition to other ingredients, PRESCRIBEDsolutions products contain a unique form of Vitamin C called sodium ascorbyl phosphate that also has skin brightening benefits. In clinical trails, sodium ascorbyl phosphate reduced the color of age spots by 25 percent after 2 months and reduced the melanogenesis in primary human melanocytes by 57 percent.

In the US, this customization and this special form of Vitamin C are only available through physicians nationwide. PRESCRIBEDsolutions is the only skincare line that enables physicians to customize patients’ skincare products so ALL products can be made to address their skin brightening needs.

“Physicians are the experts to turn to at a time like this,” noted Aurelian Lis, a respected authority on cosmeceuticals and the Chief Operating Officer of PRESCRIBEDsolutions. The ability to individualize the skin products for patients means that physicians can address age spots and brightening simultaneous to other skin issues,”

“It’s understandable that patients are very concerned by this FDA warning,” said David Avram, M.D. a prominent New York dermatologist. “Hydroquinone-free alternatives like PRESCRIBEDsolutions customized with potent brightening ingredients by their physician is very effective way of addressing hyperpigmentation. Patients should consult with their dermatologist to find out which skin products are safe alternatives,” added Dr. Avram.

Patients concerned with age spots and looking for alternatives to hydroquinone can find out more about the customized boosters and products and find a local dispensing physician, by going to www.prescribedsolutions.com.
