Situated in between the famous Tuscan cities of Florence and Pisa, ten minutes from the well-known spa town of Montecatini, the Grotta Giusi Terme Spa is easily reached. There is a complimentary transfer service to and from the city centre and the railway station. Lucca, the city of Puccini and Medieval Pistoria are also within easy reach.

Immersed in a typical Tuscan landscape at the foot of the hills of Monsummano in Tuscany, Grotta Giusi Spa is surrounded by parkland. The hotel, formerly a villa built in the nineteenth century offers a warm, natural sense of hospitality to the efficient service, in a setting enhanced by elegant antiques and paintings. Celebrity visitors include Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Robbie Williams, Kirstie Alley, David Soul and Mick Hucknall.

In 1852, workmen discovered an underground thermal lake giving off steam that seemed to help their aching limbs. Since then, it has been used as a hotel and spa. The villa is filled with antique furniture and art, and the white marble bathrooms have thermal water on tap.

The Grotta is a beautiful network of caves, around the thermal lake with three rocky rooms with different levels of heat. In your bath robe you relax among the stalactites and stalagmites and steam. There is a huge, thermal water swimming pool with a waterfall. Soaking up the steam and the thermal waters is good for asthma to arthritis.

As you would expect it’s Italy and Tuscany so the food is fantastic and you can opt for low calorie.

As well as the spa, there is a gym, tennis courts and golf nearby
