How you feel on the inside is real beauty – new research

New research shows young women expect men to judge them mostly on their appearance, while mature ladies know it’s how YOU feel inside that counts.

It seems that young women weren’t listening when their mothers told them, “it’s what’s on the inside that counts”. Women in their 20s and 30s, more than any other age group, expect to be judged on their physical appearance, according to new research out today.

Contrary to what people say about inner beauty, over half of the young women surveyed (53%) feel they are judged on their physical appearance, compared to just over a third (36%) of women aged 56 or over. A third (38%) will rely on their intellect to make a good first impression, compared to half (50%) of their older, and perhaps wiser, counterparts.

It seems that as we get older, we realise that it is more about how we feel than how we look. Research conducted on behalf of TENA Lady with new Fresh Odour Control TM, the UK’s leading bladder weakness brand, found that more than half of women over 56 (56%), feel most confident when they’re feeling fresh and smelling good, irrespective of the clothes they’re wearing or how much make-up they have on.

Dr Dawn Harper, from Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies programme, comments: “When we smell fresh and feel clean it gives us more confidence when meeting new people, and it’s the little things that make us radiate this confidence – whether it’s after a relaxing bubble bath or using a new perfume. I see lots of women who suffer with a weak bladder and one of their greatest concerns is that they smell to those around them. Doing regular pelvic floor exercises and using a pad such as TENA Lady with new Fresh Odour Control TM can strengthen the bladder and help them regain the confidence to live life to the full’.

Bladder weakness is more common than people think, with 1 in 4 women over the age of 35 experiencing it at some point in their lives. For more information on how to deal with issues that may affect your confidence, such as bladder sensitivity visit www.TENA.co.uk
